Yay, the weekly photo challenge is back. This week we are asked to share a layered image, focusing on the interplay of depth, density, and texture.
I’ve chosen some photos that focus on the connection between depth and texture to give the sense of layers in an image.
The light and shadow, the placement of the objects on the diagonal create depth, whilst the flour on the board creates a final layer, as well as texture.
The peeling layers of wood, create depth, texture and interest.
I really like how depth is conveyed with this image of the three windows, starting with the flowers, words and the shapes on the outside of the building. Then, there’s the plants and items just inside the windows. Beyond that, the people and finally the restaurant fittings.
The layers in this image are created by perspective: the tree roots provide texture, depth and leading lines; the tree frames the bridge, creating another visual layer.
What an absolutely delightful prompt. Thank you to BEN HUBERMAN for the post!
