This is the final batch of images from our recent Scottish Road Trip. If you have found your way here from an Instagram or Facebook post, you’ll see variations of the one posted there.
Our road trip theme turned out to be completely unplanned – rocks and stones ‘painted’ with lichens and mosses. We visited some churches with graveyards and came across headstones that are centuries old. The patterns made by the lichens have almost covered the wording on most of the stones. The vibrantly green grass creates a wonderful contrast for some of the headstones too. Click on the images to enlarge them.
Don’t you agree that nature has made her own unique mark on these memorials?
Once we started looking, we found lichen on natural rocks and stones too.
And that, dear readers, is the last in the Scottish Road Trip series. I hope you’ve enjoyed looking at the images. I’d love to hear which image / set of images you liked the most.
