Dreaming of adventures

Hands up – who would love an adventure right now?

A real adventure, beyond the 4 walls of our homes?
My hand is up!
Me! Me! Me!
I wonder when we will get that opportunity to do that again?

Every so often, I feel restless, wanting a little more freedom than I have. Then I start to dream of places I’d like to go – mostly featuring a beach and the ocean.

What adventures are you dreaming of for when we can travel again? Will they be local or further afield?

Like so many of us, all the adventures I had planned for this year have been cancelled. A trip to Portugal to celebrate a 60th birthday (in fact, we are meant to be there right now!); a music festival; visits from family who live overseas.

But, if I’m honest, I’m just looking forward to freely exploring the island again and to visiting the “North Island” (the mainland north of the Isle of Wight) to see family and friends.

But the reality is that we don’t know when we will be able to have adventures in any form again. So, in the meantime, I must be inspired Diane Arbus who said:

The act of photographing… Yes, I guess I keep my adventurous self satisfied by using my photography practice to explore every day kinds of delights and have mini-daily adventures in my home and local neighbourhood. The act of photographing reveals things to me that I don’t always notice with my naked eye. The camera has a way of simplifying things (not always how we want it to, but simplifying it nonetheless)

How have you been satisfying your adventurous spirit during lock down/quarantine? Have you been successful at it?

I'd love to know your thoughts on this post, please leave me a comment
