Its all in the details

I’m not really a classic landscape photographer. When I’m travelling or when I go for a walk, I might “snap” some landscapes as records of a view. Sometimes I get lucky and capture something beautiful that I am happy to call a decent “landscape” photo.

Most of the time though, I am looking at the details in the environment and landscape around me. Because of this, I’ve begun to call myself an holistic photographer.

I’m not looking at the conventional view of a place.
No, I am the person who is on her knees, looking in the opposite direction, peering closely at seemingly empty spaces – all in pursuit of detail.

Shapes, lines, shadow, texture, pattern, reflection – that’s what I’m all about!

As I have a bunch of new photos from outings this week (I had a few days off from work), I’m gonna share some detail shots each day this week.

Texture and pattern

For me, these two elements often go hand in hand – as you can see from these images of artichoke heads. The overlaid, repeated pattern of the leafy scales also provides the texture.
