So I was inspired to do something crafty and creative again. Was the need to be creative a result of my first Artist Date, the gathering on Monday or a combination of both?
A friend and I are just about to start working through Julia Cameron's Artists Way 12-week course. We have been hoping to find an uninterrupted 12-week slot to do it together. And we have. We start this week.

“I’m not the kind of person who wants lots of material things. Don’t get me wrong, I do like to drive a decent car, I love a comfortable home and have many collections which I love adding to, but at this point in my life I am desperately trying to de-clutter and scale down in preparation for a big overseas move. So I knew that images of shiny things like cars, electronics and household appliances would not feature on my board.”
When I posted this back in February, my vision board was only half-finished. It has developed quite nicely as the year has progressed. I wanted tactile: I attached a piece decorative rope and small pegs, some long-abandoned scrapbooking bits, fabric pockets to hold fresh herbs (I adore lavender!) and collected some natural goodies from the garden like feathers and leaves.
I rescued some transparent wrapping from a bunch of flowers and wrote out a Rumi quote. I thought the quote would be good to share for today’s Thursday Thort.

Try something different. Surrender.” [Rumi]Yes, I have been stony for too many years, I want to be softer (less judgemental) especially to myself, more open, less sharp. The quote appealed to my sense of wanting to change the way I have been for too long.

I belong to a women’s group that meets once a month. This month, we were invited to look for and prep images and words to create Vision Boards for 2018 for our February meeting, as a way to set our intentions for the rest of the year.
I immediately thought “how cool”! Partly because these were not intentions being set on the 1st January, so there is no hint of ‘new year resolutions’ to it. And because it has to be at least 10 years since I last did a vision board. Time to get creative.
I decided I wanted to do a ‘physical’ board rather than a digital one, as it is much more engaging and hands-on – and it would get me away from my computer for a few hours. The next thing was to find pictures. Normally sourced from magazines… But I don’t have any physical/hard copy magazines…

The countdown begins. I am about to publish my first eBook on Everyday Delights. The book is called "Documenting a 100 Happy Day Project" which is a compilation of posts from my first blog in 2015. That original blog site has now disappeared. This book is a two part compilation of those stories and high-quality photographs from 2015 written for the blog.
With only have between 7300 and 7000 days (if I live to 70 or 75!) left to have adventures, I really want to experience my travels with awareness and joy - not just see them as a list of places to be ticked off. I am making a promise to myself, this time it will be different. I will keep a traveler's journal.
The idea of playing with words has been incubating in my mind for a while and I think I am going to try and get a new challenge up and running here on WordPress and I'm hoping I can generate interest in this wonderful community.
My sister Julie is also an accomplished watercolour artist. On a hot, sticky summer’s day late last December, we sat down together with a cup of tea and we chatted about her art.
